TRANS BORNEO 2019 THE LAST FRONTIERS
The latest legendary off-road adventure travel Trans Borneo 2019 The last frontiers
The 4x4 travel Off Road Expedition since 1988 lasting 31 years on Borneo and the longest in Asia 10 times in the past, this is the 11th travel management "TRANSBORNEO 2019 The LAST FRONTIERS" between 27 Nov - 8 Dec 2019. In the route SABAH MALAYSIA (Kota Kinabalu Penawan) SARAWAK MALAYSIA (Lawas Bakelalan) NORTH KALIMANTAN INDONESIA (Long Bawan Benuang Semamu Tanjung Selor Derawan Islands - Tanjung Selor-Malinau-Simanggaris) SABAH MALAYSIA (Serudong-Kalabakan-Tawau) was held by MOHD.Anuar Bin Abdul Ghani and travel distance of approximately 2,000 km. In the target expectation that are Expect the Unexpected) which two years ago, the concept of TRANS BORNEO 2017 "Into The Heart Of Borneo" traveled to Kalimantan Indonesia failed to do. It couldnt cross the border between Malaysia - Indonesia in the area of the Simanggaris Monument Channel.
The travel aims to explore the ultimate touch of the beautiful land (The Almost - Untouched) of Borneo, promoting travel and off-road adventure travel, culture, history, adventure, agriculture, and rainforest nature mysterious high mountains within the heart of Borneo island on the north Kalimantan Of Indonesia. This trip have either stayed in a five-star hotel without stars or under the stars on a camping site, the total distance is about 2,000 kilometers in 15 days on the road, 60% tamac road , 30% off-road roads, off-road hardcore 10% but during this period,it is the monsoon season with heavy rain throughout. Time Therefore making the journey to be an tough off-road, brutally dangerous in every route.

Day 2, Nov 28th, Begins the long-distance journey to Penawan - Lawas - Ba 'Kelalan - Long Bawan, crossing the border from Sabah to Sarawak at the Sindomin checkpoint, up and down the steep and dangerous mountains of many ranges from slushy mud to extremely dangerous, But it has the beautiful scenery of the green rainforest and high mountains to crossing the border between Malaysia-Indonesia at Longbawan Indonesia. The total distance was approximately 147 km. And the border of Long Bawan was another place of The Last frontiers of Borneo which two years ago have tried to passing but it couldnt pass through. But this time, it was very warmly welcomed by the Indonesia staff officials.
Day 3, November 29th, The route Long Bawan - Benuang - Semamu , In the morning at Long Bawan there was a flag off ceremony for cars and offroaders of Trans Borneo 2019 honored by Mr.Safarudin. Diwasparawista Nunucan, Indonesia Tourism Mr. Heberli Li Camat Long Bawan District officer, many local leaders hundreds of teachers and students. And with aerobic exercise for fun together before traveled from Long Bawan to Benuang, approximately 105 kilometers.
The whole road were slippery and muddy, going up and down a high steep and long path of the mountains, risking to fall down into deep dale. All car drivers must use their skills and experience offroad to the fullest. But all of the convoy couldnt cross the Benuang River had to stop traveling and camping overnight near the river on a hill not far from Benuang village.
Day 4, Nov 30th, The adventure plan of all hardcore heart off-roaders will be able to crossing the river. But the water level was still too high and flows very fast, So decided to waiting for the water reduce depth for safely crossing the river. All cars stayed one more night in Benuang Village (The overnight stayed at the second night.)
Day 5, December 1st, The off-road route came to the extreme toughest as the twilight zone Mysterious, beautiful and dangerous between Benuang village Semamu village distance approximately 65km , The river still high water level, strong flow, so it had to hire a tractor to drag all cars across the Benaung River. And all convoy move forward only about 4 km had to adventure on high mountains with landslides, ruthless rocks and up and down danger steep mountains about 200 meters long, Every cars had to use winch pull the car up tough in many distances. The first group of convoy 10 cars could travel only 8 km had to stop for camping overnight. And Convoy of second group consisting of 8 vehicles had to fighting and following convoy group one on next day.
Day 6, December 2nd, The weather was very cold last night. The first group of convoy woke up early in the morning and began to climb up Mount Slukut the highest peak of Borneo in Kalimantan Indonesia at a height of 1,558 meters above sea level about halfway between Benuang Village Semamu distance 65 km. The first group of Convoy 10 cars started from the eighth kilometer moving approximately 500 meters found obstracle a large tree hundreds of years old falling block the road, using about an hour to cut and clear the tree. After that it were a long way tough, steep and dangerous mountains full of holes,channel, big and small rocks, Everyone were tiredness from walking up and down the high mountains for winching cars and had to using very long rope in many places. The steep and hard-core path seems like none stop. There were no big tree for winching , had to using ground anchor in difficult with a soft ground that pervades from rain which made the ground wet and slippery from liquid soil on the top. The toughest obstracles had more than 5-6 places. Man and machine had to fighting with hardcore heart and reach the summit of mountain Slukut at almost midnight and try to continue moving forward down from the peak of mountain but the way down from the mountain were still very dangerous in the darkness, therefore convoy group one had to stay overnight near the summit of Mount Slukut among the strong cold wind blowing and surrounding with the white mist.
Day 7, December 3rd, the first group of 10 cars started to travel up the steep slope just under a hundred meters found the long hardcore obstracles with a line of stone like bridges full of many rutted waiting and the side were a deep abyss. And turning up to a rocky hill with many danger trenches to destroying the car's suspension along the hill road. The last hundred meters were a road that creates a large long rutting which tough and brutally, on this obstracle had to using winch by ground anchor and a large tree stump helps to winching. All 10 cars of first group spent 7 hours for passing the last hardcore obstracles. But while traveling down hill to the village of Semamu an accident occurred when a car overturned on a steep curving turn, lucky no one were hurt and arrived at Semamu village on 10 p.m.
Day 8, December 4th, The ten vehicles of first group had to waiting for the second group 8 cars, so today were a relaxing day of the first off-road group. Everyone stayed in the homestay of Semamu Village. And the villagers went to fishing by fishhooks and fish net to catch a big fish to sale to offroaders which it were famous fish for the most delicious taste and also very expensive of Barob fish and Pelian fish, in the market price up to 900 -1,500 ringgit (8,100 - 10,500 baht) per 1 kg. And as well as helping to recovery the overturned car on the road which was about 5 km away from the village, brought down near the crossroads before into the village. In the evening there had good news, could contact the second group via radio and knew that they had fought hard to the top of Mount Slukut but bad luck had a few cars complete to driving and had to camp overnight on top of the hill surrounded with a strong wind, cold air covered by white clouds and fog.
Day 9, December 5th, The first group of convoy sent three cars and peoples travel to help the second groups to come down from the summit of Slukut. The other cars and the rest peoples helped to bring the car collapsed from a long dangerous steep hill before coming down to Semamu Village. About 09.00 p.m. the 8 cars of group two could travel reach the village of Semamu and spend the night here. The goal for next day was to do medical activities, check up health, and give general basic medicine including items donated for the villagers of Semamu Village.
After regroups were successed at night about 10 pm convoy group One, 5 cars separated immediately In order to go to Malinau city with a distance approximate 110 kilometers. Which was still an off-road route in the middle heart of the rainforest went up and down along steep mountains many curving paths the road surface was slippery and almost rainy all the time. Must be extremely careful during travel up and down the steep hill, more slippery, dangerous all the way. It took a total of more seven hours to travel until almost dawn at about 5 pm on December 6, arrived at the beautiful Lundayeh village suburb of Malinau (the best cultural village award). All 5 cars relax at an Indonesian off-road friend's house for about two hours. And about 7 am in the morning rushed departing to Tanjung Selor city.
Day 10,December 6th, After two hours of rest at about 7 o'clock in the morning, the first group of 5 cars began their journey to the seaside town of Tanjung Selor. The distance was approximately 207 km with the police officers' car leading escorted in front of the convoy going up and down on the high steep slope and devious mountains tamac road were very dangerous and innumerable. It took more than 7 hours to reach Tanjung Selor. And received a warm welcome from the civil servants, police officer, IOF ,local Offroaders , motorbike groups and peoples of Tanjung Selor which today has a press conference and welcome dinner at evening.
Day 11, December 7th, The trip program to Derawan Island was canceled. Because the delay of the journey for up to four days. At about 7 o'clock in the morning, the first group of 5 cars started to travel back to Malinau city. The distance was approximately 207 km and took about 5 hours, with police escorted cars taking care of safety all of the route. And both groups of convoy had assembled a total of 16 cars again and 1 big bike motorcycle of Italy in Malinau and proceeded to the Simangaris checkpoint Indonesia-Malaysia border The distance is approximately 172 kilometers. The path is a curved mountain path. So many long and steep rises Many path of the roads were under maintenance. The route was still dangerous, be careful to using the fast speed on the mountain along the route. And arrived at Simanggaris border lately it night on 11pm. Camping and overnight here in order to waiting for the immigration polices to stamp passport departure from Indonesia at noon on the next day.
Day 12, December 8th, After chop the passport was issued from Indonesia all convoy traveled to the border between Kalimantan Utara Indonesia - Sabah Malaysia, a distance of about 40 km, was a monument between the two countries which two years ago of Trans Borneo 2017 had only traveled here and waiting for two nights was not allowed from Indonesia to allow convoy passing the border. Therefore ,This area was the last frontiers.
At around 4 pm The final passion off-road adventure journey for challenging and fun approximately 3-5km began at the border monument and had funny time with many obtracles short off-road routes and the last point was a broken bridge couldn't skip so all offroaders had to put the wood on the stream as a bridge for all cars to run up which was full of excitement adventure in the rain and rush away from the strong water flows down and high up levels rapidly into the turbulent flow.
The last car of convoy could overcome obstacles in the early hours of the evening at 06.00 pm and hastened journey further on the off-road route in Serudong park palm to Kalaban, a distance approximately 35 kilometers until the main road began travel along the long steep high mountain distance approximately 91 km to Tawao city and reached it about 10.00 pm. And attend the closing ceremony for off-road adventures with Minister YB Phoong Jin Zhe the minister of youth and sports Sabah honored presiding close the trip at Fajar Club.
