How hard is it to install cruise control into a 99 Cherokee that doesn't have it? I'd like to use a steering wheel from another Cherokee that had cruise control if possible.

Should be easy so long as you grab all of the pieces from the donor XJ. Since you're planning on getting the steering column, too. It should be super easy. I've had my steering column apart before. That sucks!! and the CC wire runs right down the middle of it with the wires for all the other switches on the steering column stalks.

I installed Audiovox CCS-100 Cruise Control Kit on my 2000 XJ a few months ago. It's working great. The thread for that install can be read here.

How long did this take to install? Did you need to tap into the factory harness? Do you need anything in addition to the CCS-100?
Thanks

I took time installing the cruise control so spent a weekend but if worked through quickly and all goes well it can probably be installed in half a day.
You have to tap into brake and ignition harness under dash if I remember correctly. Under hood, you can pick-off VSS and RPM signal as seen in the pic posted in my earlier post from last year.
Other than buying rubber boot and a tube of silicone compound to fill the firewall hole used to thread wires for the cruise control, I don't recall buying any other supply. I think wire connection adapters were provided in the kit. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I have some more pics and can dig out more details if you need them but FYI, my responses will be slow.

Well, today, I wired and piped enough to test my new Audiovox CCS-100 Cruise Control on my 2000 XJ. Promptly, I took it out on a road test. The cruise control worked just fine both on and off freeway. I'll still have to permanently mount servo, cover leads with tubing, and seal grommet hole on firewall where I threaded wires through. I'm happy choosing the CCS-100. The price was right, alot of good reviews, and I agree with both so far.

This information is for anyone installating Audiovox CCS-100 Cruise Control on XJ in the future,..
I found out the cruise control kick's in smoother if its switches for sensitivity setting, SW4 and SW5, are set for LOW.
sensitivity--- SW4---SW5
LOW -------- ON --- OFF <--- works better on my XJ
MEDIUM ----- OFF -- OFF <--- default setting
Yesterday, I test ran my XJ on freeways to try out three different internal sensitivity settings (LOW, MEDIUM, and HIGH) on the cruise control. It had been on MEDUIM, the default setting, since it was installed a couple of weeks ago and it was working ok but there was a slight momentary jump in RPM when ever I pressed the SET or RESUME button on my cruise control while driving. I first tried the HIGH but that setting didn't work at all. The HIGH setting made RPM jerk up even more than the MEDIUM and the cruise control would not work at all. I then tried the LOW and the cruise control worked very smoothly, and no more RPM jumping at all.
CCS-100 manual also shows that the LOW is for "light vehecles with high horse power", MEDIUM for "most vehicles", and HIGH for "low power or heavy vehicles". So I thought for our XJ it should be set to either MEDIUM or HIGH but as I found out, on the contrary, the LOW worked best.
